The Smithsonian Institution’s National Gallery of Art, the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum and the National Museum and Library of Congress are among those launching new classes in integrated physical education.
The first of the new classes is scheduled for 2019, with the second one scheduled for 2020.
“We are not only focused on creating an inclusive learning environment, but also providing a space for students to grow in the classroom,” said Smithsonian Director of Instruction Alba Cisneros.
“We are excited to be working with educators to enable students to create new pathways to learning.”
The new classes will offer students a unique opportunity to explore a variety of topics, including physical education and the art of exercise, to help them better understand the world around them and the challenges they face.
They will learn about the science of fitness and physical education techniques and share their personal experiences through video, audio, and visual media.
Each class is designed to provide students with a personalized learning experience.
In addition, the museums are offering classes in video games and computer games.
All classes will be offered at the Smithsonian’s museums, the National Air & Space Museum, the Washington National Museum, and the Smithsonian Institution.
Applications will be accepted through March 5.
