– A B.A. student who died at age 17 from cancer was an avid soccer player, according to her father.
Kimberly Balsamo was a math and science teacher at the University of British Columbia.
She died on Sunday after battling brain cancer, her father, Mark Balsam, said in a statement Tuesday.
Kimbert Balsamic, the son of Kimberly and James Balsams, said his mother would have been very proud of being a professional player.
She played with her teammates in the youth soccer team at the university and would have had a lot of fun, he said.
Kimbers mother was a social worker and a registered nurse, according a university press release.
